Having taken a 2-0 lead and looking set for three points, they threw away their good work by conceding two goals in the space of two minutes to the dismay of their fans at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Simba took the lead on eight minutes through Zambian striker Felix Sunzu and doubled their lead on 51 minutes through Mrisho Ngasa.
Despite looking comfortable, they however threw away the lead as Themi Felix pulled a goal back on 54 minutes and then two minutes later, Salum Kanuni scored the equaliser from the penalty spot.
Harambee Stars defender Pascal Ochieng started for Simba, while former AFC Leopards midfielder Salim Kinje begun out on the bench.
Simba retain their lead atop the league standings with a one point lead over second placed Azam who have played a game less than their rivals.
