Newly appointed Harambee Stars coach Henri Michel has been requested to ensure that proper structures are in place for a quick resuscitation of the Kenyan game.
AFC Leopards’ ace Peter Lichungu in an interview with futaa.com emphasized that this was the cure to poor performance by the National Team in their future outings.
According to Lichungu, Michel should lay down structures ensuring that talents discovered at the grassroots level trace their way to the National level with as much ease as possible.
-The coach should start by building the structures that will ensure that more talents are discovered and channeled up to the national team.
-In our country for example, he should have appointed coaches and football scouts in every county so that they can direct and assist him fish out talent.
-This is the only way that talents in other parts of the country not only Nairobi will get to be nurtured. That’s where the former unit went wrong since all the players were from Nairobi.
Lichungu is however confident that this will be achieved since the French Man has been very keen when Tusker Premier League teams play both within and outside Nairobi.
The Harambee Stars’ technical bench has been criticized before for fielding players from within the city alone and not taking time to get fresh talent but according to Lichungu, this is the cure to football troubles in future.
