Special Olympics team back in the country

Ombiji and Special Olympics team
The Kenyan representatives in the just concluded Special Olympics in South Africa are back in the country.

The team, which did really well while in South Africa, touched down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 2130 hrs local time on Sunday 7 October 2012.

This is after a rather successful outing in the Southern Africa country finishing fourth in the three days tournament dubbed the Unity Cup that ended on Saturday 6th October 2012.

Brave fight

The Kenyans gave a brave fight managing to reach the semifinals of the inaugural tourney by thumping Mauritius 9-0.

Hosts South Africa were however managed a narrow 3-1 win over the Kenyans on penalties after a barren draw result in normal timing of the match.

The hosts advanced to win the tournament after a win over Tanzania while a wounded Kenyan lost to Ivory Coast by 4-0 in the third place playoffs on Saturday 6th October 2012.

The team is coached by veteran youth coach Vince Ombiji.
