South Africans hope for minor Nyayo repairs

Nyayo National Stadium
South Africa coach Gordon Igesund hopes that some minor work will be done on the Nyayo Stadium pitch before the clash with the Harambee Stars.

The visiting Bafana Bafana take on Kenya's Stars in a friendly match on Tuesday 16 October 2012 at the Nyayo venue.

Having held a training session at Nyayo this morning, Igesund says that the Nyayo pitch should be improved slightlly, considering the fitness of both sets of players and that he expects some work to be done on the ground by the relevant authorities before the match.

Dangerous

- The only concern we have is on the state of the playing ground at the Stadium, which is not very good.

- There are holes on the pitch, especially around the goal area which need filling with sand. We have talked with the local association and I hope they will work on it.

- One of our players nearly twisted his ankle due to one of the holes and hopefully, some work will be done as we consider the safety of both sets of players, he said in a press conference.

Nighttime kick-off

The match will kick off at 1900 hrs local time.
