Cameroon midfielder Alexander Song was expected to resume training with his club, Barcelona on Wednesday 17 October but did not show up with reports emerging from Catalunya that his passport had been stolen at the airport in Yaounde.
AFCON miss
The former Arsenal man took part in the Indomitable Lions’ match against Cape Verde, which they eventually lost 2 – 3 on aggregate and missed a place in the 2013 African Cup of Nations finals as a result.
Selection woes
The midfielder’s delay could cause coach Tito Vilanova a selection headache since he is expecting to use him in defence in the absence of Gerrard Pique and Carles Puyol for the weekend tie against Deportivo de la Coruna.
Song, though, could be in line for a place in the starting team when Barcelona faces off with Celtic in the Champions League on Tuesday 23 October.
