Somalia in early CECAFA preps

CECAFA
One of the 12 teams that will take part in the upcoming CECAFA senior challenge Cup Somalia has planned to land in the backyard of host Nation Uganda two weeks to the start of the annual regional event.

'Stadium Mogadishu'

Reasons for early arrival and early preparation, that start in Uganda from 8 november 2012 have been pegged on instability in Somalia, lack of venue and the need to acclaimatize early.

-The old soccer stadium is under construction by Fifa and the national facility the 'Stadium Mogadishu' is home to AU troops in Somalia.

- For those reasons we have to encamp the team in Kampala

24 November

-The weather in Kampala is totally different from that in Somalia, so we want our players to adapt to that cold weather, said Somali Football Federation Secretary General Abdi Qani as quoted by africansoccer.weebly.com

The regional tourney, which Kenya’s Harambee stars will also be taking part in, will kick off on 24 November 2012 and conclude on 8 December 2012.
