2009 Tusker Premier League (TPL) champions Sofapaka have not set an eye on their defender Abdulatif Omar for over a month now and are wondering what has happened with the former Kenyan international, according to team manager Jacques Roberto.
Double surgery
The former Thika United defender has been out on a long term injury and after two surgeries on his left knee managed an appearance on the bench in the match against AFC Leopards in the second leg but at the moment Roberto says he hasn’t been reporting to training and is yet to communicate with the club.
The team manager admitted to hearing from the media of the defender’s desire to leave at the end of the season and called on him to reach out to the club’s management for a discussion on the same so that he could leave with their blessings.
Concerned
-Over a month has passed now and we do not know where Abdulatif is; he just disappeared, he never comes to training and is unreachable on phone so we are concerned.
-We heard from the media that he is contemplating a move away next year, which is not bad because in this business moving on is part of life. We just want him to do the right thing and inform us so that we can release him in peace, just that, Roberto told futaa.com.
Omar had earlier informed futaa.com that he will not be renewing his contract with the team after it expires at the end of the current campaign.
