Sofapaka cruise past KRA to advance to the FK Cup semis

FK Cup defending Champions Sofapaka FC hopes of clinching the title for the second time in a row were livened courtesy of Humprey Mieno’s goal in the 85th minute, trouncing hard fighting KRA 2-1 at City Stadium on Wednesday 12 October.

Sofapaka were the first one to score in the 12th minute through international defender Osborne Monday corner-curve. Just a few minutes before the break, KRA a Nationwide One side pulled an equalizer settling the scores to 1-1 through lethal striker Obadiah Ndege.

Last minute goal

The match remained tight for the entire second half, with both attacking vigorously in search for the winning goal. After numerous attempts, finally Harambee Stars midfielder Humphrey Mieno, booked a ticket for the Batoto Ba Mungu to the semis in the 85th minute.

With the exit of KRA, it has now remained a KPL teams affair in the semis. Sofapaka will be facing Thika United FC in the first semi-final match in a date yet to be confirmed as Gor Mahia FC tackle AFC Leopards in the other semis on 20 October.

The winners of the semis, will meet on October 26 in the FK Cup final to be played on Wednesday 26 October at Nyayo National Stadium under floodlights.
