Sofapaka batters Tusker to make Cup final

Tusker 0:4 Sofapaka

Sofapaka has this evening spanked Kenyan counterpart Tusker FC four for nothing in the first semi finals of the six-team Tusker Cup played at the Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Sofapaka was 1-0 up at half time with a sole goal scored by John Onami in the 21st minute. Three more goals followed in the second half from Bob Mugalia, Anthony Kimani and Salim Kinje to complete the rout.

Sofapaka will meet the winner of tomorrow’s titanic clash between Yanga and Simba in the finals to be played on Saturday.

After a 2-1 defeat of Mafunzo in their first Group “B” game, Tusker went on to lose the second game 3-1 against Yanga but still qualified for the semis. Even with the heavy 4-0 loss to Sofapaka, Tusker has a chance to claim some prize money should they win the third playoff against the team that loses the second semi tomorrow.

In beating Tusker to reach the finals, Sofapaka remains unbeaten in the competition after three matches. On Tuesday last week the team beat defending Tusker Cup Champions Mtibwa Sugar and the second game ended in a barren draw with Simba.
