Ulinzi Stars coach Sammy Simiyu is keenly looking ahead to his side’s eagerly awaited Top Eight Tournament final encounter against on-form Gor Mahia, on Sunday 19 August, at MISC, Kasarani.
In an interview with futaa.com, Simiyu said that the competition within the team will spur them on to retain the trophy.
Play like champions
-The entire squad is in high spirits and everybody is fighting hard to get a chance in the final team. The competition is really high and I hope we will select the right players for the final, he said.
-As the defending champions, we are committed at retaining the trophy.
Not easy
However, with their opponents’ recent fine-run, the former Kenyan international expects the match to be difficult.
-Gor are currently enjoying a good run and I salute coach Zdravko Logarusic for turning around the team’s fortunes.
-He has brought a lot of changes in the team and for sure, they deserve to be in the final. Yes, it will be tough on Sunday, but our desire is to defend the trophy, insisted Simiyu.
