On Saturday 8 September
2012, Cote d’Ivoire beat Senegal 4-2 in a 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier,
a game played at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny
Stadium in Abidjan.

Twice, Senegal led the game but twice host Cote d’Ivoire rallied to tie the game. Thereafter a Drogba goal and another from Gradel handed Cote d’Ivoire the win.
Ahead of a reverse tie to be played on Saturday 13 October, Senegal have put in place a formidable squad to keep the Ivorians in check.
Coach Joseph Koto has however not included fiery El Hadj Diouf in the team. Newcastle pair of Papis Demba Cissé and Demba Bâ are part of his army.
