Finland’s top flight league; the 12-team Veikkausliiga
came to a close on Saturday 27 October 2012 with a final six games of the 2012 season.
Denied
Of the six, Amos Chona Ekhalie’s IFK Mariehamn played host to visiting MYPA at the Wiklof Holding Arena in a game that kicked off from 1400hrs in a tie that ended 2-2.
MYPA shocked the hosts with and early lead then denied IFK a win by scoring an equalizer in the second half.
MYPA went up 0-1 on seven minutes through Pekka Sihvola but his goal was cancelled out by Mattias Wiklof on 26 minutes for the two to go into the break at 1-1.
Fourth placing
A 52nd minute goal from Aleksei Kangaskolkka gave IFK the lead but just five minutes on that was cancelled as Riley O'Neill leveled matters.
Ekhalie started and completed the season’s final game to make it 29 appearances in the 33 game season.
From the results, IFK conclude the season with a fourth placing after hitting the 51 point mark. MYPA complete the season with a sixth placing after being leap frogged at fifth by FC Lahti who managed a 2-1 home win over KuPS.
The league was claimed by HJK Helsinki who completed the season with a 3-6 win away to Jyvaskyla JK.
