Russian giants express interest in Mariga

Russian top-tier side Dynamo Moscow wants to sign Harambee Stars and Inter Milan midfielder McDonald Mariga.

Mariga, who resumed training recently after a long injury lay off, has also attracted interest from English side Fulham and Parma, where he had short loan stint last season.

Future

The player’s agent, Federico Pasterelli confirmed the development but said he would first talk to Inter Milan Head Coach Andrea Stramaccioni regarding Mariga’s future at the club.

-We will wait for the decision of the coach. If he feels the need for Mariga, my client will remain at the club until at least the summer, Pastarelli is quoted as saying by Russian daily Izvestia.

-The club already has Argentinean Esteban Cambiasso and the Uruguayan newcomer Walter Gargano playing in McDonald’s position.If Stramaccioni makes it clear that he expects them to have the first opportunities, in January Mariga can change clubs.

-We have already spoken with Dynamo Moscow, Parma and Fulham, he added.

Career

Locally, Mariga played for the now defunct Kenya Pipeline FC, Ulinzi Stars and Tusker before moving to Sweden where he first featured for third-tier side Enkoping SK. Swedish top-tier side Helsinborg snapped him up and later loaned him then sold him to Italian outfit Parma FC. He joined Inter Milan in January 2010 but has had loan stints at Spanish side Real Sociedad and his former side Parma.
