Real Madrid will get the first option to buy Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Gareth Bale should he decide to leave White Hart Lane.
A report in The Mirror claims the new partnership agreement between Spurs and the Spanish champions has secured Madrid the right to enter initial negotiations for the 23-year-old, who only penned a new deal in June, should the London club wish to cash in.
Speculation
Bale, rated at around N11.1b, has been the subject of constant transfer speculation over the summer, with Barcelona believed to have been favourites to land him and Manchester United also showing interest.
However, the alliance entered into last week in the wake of Luka Modric’s move to the Bernabeu has radically altered the situation regarding the Welsh international.
It is also understood Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas will get the chance to run the rule over any players in Jose Mourinho’s talented squad.
