Mombasa side Magongo Rangers which also plays in the FKF Division One Zone A were on Saturday 14 July crowned the Taifa Ngano Cup winners after they trounced minnows Gulshan 3 – 0 in the final at the Mombasa Sports Club.
Hassan Mazera scored the first in the 29th minute to see that Rangers took the lead going into the break and Musa Raisi grabbed the second just as the second half kicked off before Haron Matano put the icing on the cake with an 87th minute third.
The 2012 edition of Taifa Ngano Cup consisted of 20 teams that were divided into four pools of five teams each. The winners took home the prize money of Kshs 100,000, a set of branded jerseys, trophy, medals and bales of maize flour.
Gulshan were awarded Kshs 50,000, a set of branded jerseys, a trophy, medals and bales of flour. The tournament was sponsored by Mombasa Maize Millers, the manufacturers of Taifa brand of maize flour.
