He has been training with Tusker Premier League giants Gor Mahia for two weeks only but has already caught the attention of the club’s goalkeeper trainer, Abdul Iddi Salim.
Future
FISA FC first-choice custodian Michael Juma has a great future ahead according to Iddi.
-That boy has a great future. He has only trained with us for a short period but I’ve seen the potential he has. He’ll rise to be a top goalkeeper in this country, Iddi told futaa.com.
-His height is perfect and he has mastered all the basic goalkeeping skills. He however needs to eat properly since his body condition is not okay for a top-level goalkeeper.
-I wish I would train him for a long time but at this crucial stage I have to concentrate with the other custodians. I'd love to work with him in future, Iddi added.
FISA Head Coach Charles Korea Omondi also shares the same sentiments with Iddi, saying it’s only a matter of time before the young custodian joins the top-tier.
-Juma has been in superb form and I would say he has been our player of the season. He is definitely going places, Omondi said.
Juma was poised to join Division One Zone B side Nakuru AllStars at the beginning of the season but the club and FISA failed to agree.
Experience
-After the close of the Nairobi Provincial League (NPL), I decided to keep fit and gain experience by training with Gor Mahia and I’m glad they granted me the chance, Juma said.
-I’m enjoying my time at Gor. All the goalkeepers are very supportive and I’m learning a lot from them. I’m benefiting a lot and I know this will help me next season, he added.
FISA finished fifth in the 20-team NPL log with 69 points from 38 matches.
