Tanzanian Mainland champions Simba SC opened their league account on Saturday 15 September with a convincing 3 – 0 win over African Lyon at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaaam.

Ugandan international Emmanuel Okwi opened the scores for the champions in the 32nd minute and Nassoro Masoud doubled the scores three minutes later, just seconds after Lyon’s Sunday Bakari missed a penalty.
Ghanaian new signing Daniel Akuffor then sealed it with a goal in the 55th minute from the penalty spot to guarantee Simba a perfect start.

Pascal, who made the move from AFC Leopards in July had a debut to forget in the season curtain raiser on Tuesday 11 September against Azam as Simba came from behind to register a 3 – 2 win.
