Owino’s focus set on Harambee Stars

George Owino

Sofapaka defender George Owino expects to be in the Harambee Stars squad once he regains full fitness but reckons going back to the team will not be a walk in the park.

The defender has been out on a long term injury, which he sustained early in 2011 while doing duty for his club and has just started light training with an aim to regain his place in the club, which he admits will experience a lot of competition.

All it takes

The defender spoke to futaa.com, and bears the belief that he has all it takes to turn out for the national team again after being slowed by the injury but he also understands there is need for him to up his work rate in anticipation of a call up.

Competition

-Once fully fit I believe I will get to the right levels physically and then I know I will be ready for a call to the national team. However, I understand there is a lot of competition for places in the team and for me to make it, I’ll have to triple my effort, he said.

Before going down injured Owino was one of the strongest and most efficient defenders in the country having been the rock that solidified the national team’s defence when partnering Edgar Fighter Ochieng.
