Osiako-less Mjallby falls to Elfsborg

Mjallby AIF fell 2-0 away to Elfsborg as the Swedish top flight hit the round of 22 this weekend.

Patrick Osiako left the country this past Friday two days after Kenya arrived from an international game in Guinea Bissau, was conspicuously missing from the Mjallby lineup.

Mjallby conceded the first of the two from the penalty spot in the 44th minute that came from an incident which saw defender Jepser Westerberg given his matching orders.

10-man Mjallby contained the home team but conceded yet another goal from Daniel Nordmark in injury time.

Osiako who’s much publicized move to Spanish second tier side Granada fell at the last minute and overshadowed by the close of the transfer window due to what the club has termed “negotiations stranded on economic factors” is expected to return to the team’s lineup for the next league game against BK Häcken on Wednesday.

Mjallby remains fifth on the table with 31 points while Elfsborg remains fourth but has now opened a six point gap over its victim on the day.
