Omondi to go under the knife

Jacob Omondi

Karuturi Sports striker Jacob Omondi will undergo a knee surgery next week at Aga Khan Hospital.

Omondi ended his 2012 Tusker Premier League season prematurely after tearing his ligaments during their second leg match against Muhoroni Youth.

Big blow

According to Coach Michael Nam, the skipper’s injury is a big blow to the 12th placed side.

-Omondi is a leader and top-class player. At first we thought the injury wasn’t as serious as it turned out to be.

-But after he was referred to Aga Khan by Kijabe Mission Hospital that’s when I realized the extend of the injury. I think he will be back into action next season.

-It’s a big blow to miss such a player but we wish him all the best in the operation, said Nam to futaa.com.

Injury plagued

The towering striker now joins a host of other players, including John Mwangi, Nathan Munayi, Jeff Odongo, Simon Quedeque and Benjamin Oketch who have already been ruled out for the rest of the season.
