Kakamega side Western Stima bounced from their disappointing 0 – 0 draw at Oserian last week to trounce Karuturi Sport 3 – 0 in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match at the Bukhungu Stadium on Sunday 19 August to register 30 points after 22 matches.
Top half ambition
The team’s current tally is seven short of their total last season and coach Henry Omino says he is targeting above 40 points for the season, with eight games still to play, a tally he believes will help him cement a top half finish.
The coach, speaking to futaa.com after the big, win admits the score line could have been even bigger were it not for the heavy rain during the match.
-If it wasn’t for the heavy downpour during the game I know we could have won with a bigger margin but three goals and three points at home is not so bad after all.
40+ points
-The win sets us on a good course to finish in the top half of the league; I am targeting something above 40 points and with that I will know we are assured of a top eight place; with the way we are playing I know that is achievable, he said.
Western Stima is currently in seventh place, four points ahead of eighth placed Chemelil Sugar who did not play at the weekend.
