The Intercity FC coach Mr. Francis Okoth was left purring at his team’s performance in the friendly match against Jericho AllStars on Wednesday 31 October at the Jericho grounds in Nairobi.
Intercity, a Nairobi District League side, beat their Nairobi Provincial League counterparts 1 – 0 courtesy of Felix Muhanji’s 82nd minute goal and Okoth says the win against a higher ranked side at a venue away from home was an encouraging outcome as they prepare for the playoffs final.
Missed chances
He, however, rued the numerous missed chances by his players and also heaped praise at Alvin Balotelli Otieno, the Jericho AllStars forward who was key performer in the game and a constant threat to the Intercity defence.
-We did well; I can’t say I have much to complain about – beating Jericho at such a place is a positive result since we are preparing for the playoffs final. Jericho is a quality side and I am grateful for the exposure my boys got here, the only negative thing is the wastefulness we had in front of goal but that I am sure we’ll rectify.
Upcoming star
-I was also pleased by their striker Alvin; the boy was so impressive, a constant threat to my defence and in my opinion from what I have seen from him over time, he will be a star in Kenyan football, he told futaa.com.
Intercity FC emerged tops in the Zone C of the Nairobi District League while Jericho AllStars was the best in the Nairobi Provincial League.
