Moi Stadium

Official: Moi Stadium a done deal

Construction of the Kisumu Municipal Stadium starts next week after Football Kenya Federation and FIFA signed on the dotted line.

The Ksh 42 million deal to lay an artificial turf and upgrade the dressing rooms will now begin Monday 14 May 2012.

FIFA development officer Ashford Mamelodi was witness as FKF Chair Sam Nyamweya put pen to paper to start the third Goal Funded project in the country in a meeting held Wednesday 9 May 2012.

Third FIFA recognized stadium

The joint project between the Federation and Kisumu Municipality will see Kenya get a third internationally approved stadium, pending a final go ahead from the world governing body, a process that has already begun.

Nyayo National Stadium and the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani MISC both based in the City are the commonly used stadia in FIFA competition, though Nyayo has most of the time bore the brunt of FIFA for it's poor record during key matches.

Kasarani is set to be re-opened to the public after spending more than a year out of bounds due to rennovations.
