Oburu relishes the prospect of Sofapaka reunion

Wilson Oburu

Former Sofapaka goalkeeper Wilson Oburu made his debut for SoNy Sugar at the weekend after sealing the switch from the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) 2009 champions in the match against Oserian and he is already looking forward to a duel against his former employers.

The game was the first for the goalkeeper after being forced to sit out the whole of last season through injury and he says the Sofapaka game couldn’t have come at a better time in his career as a SoNy player.

Special moment

Oburu, speaking to futaa.com, said Sofapaka to him symbolises another home and a game pitting the two teams is like a reunion and will always be a special moment.

-The Sofapaka game has found me at a very good moment; just when I am regaining my form and the pain is fading well. I can’t wait for the game.

-Meeting Sofapaka counts always for a very special occasion because I had great moments there and the club is like a second home to me, it will be a big reunion with all my great friends there, he said.

Topping table

The two sides will square it out at the Gusii Stadium on Saturday 25 February with three points at stake as the winner will have the assurance of topping the tables at least for an hour before the AFC Leopards vs. Oserian game.
