Mathare United midfielder Dennis Nzomo believes the introduction of Stanley Okumbi as the team’s coach in mid first leg was both well thought and timed.
Okumbi took over from Gabriel Kingi Njoroge at a time Mathare United was really struggling to get results going their way and has stabilised the 2008 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions, a development that elates the towering midfielder.
Speaking to futaa.com, Nzomo hailed the unity in the team as they continue with their resurgence in the second leg, saying the Slum Boys are now more of a family.
-I think Okumbi’s coming was timely and well thought – he has overseen the team in a period of much improvement and is a great manager too.
-Right now there is a lot of unity in the team and we are like a family in whatever we do both on and off the field and most of this is thanks to the coach; he has really helped us grow as players, Nzomo said.
