Kenyan skipper Dennis Oliech will no longer be ranked
by Castrol Football in their EDGE rankings.
This is by virtue of his side Auxerre having fallen off from the French Ligue 1 due to relegation at the close of the 2011/12 season.
With Oliech out, only McDonald Mariga of Italian Serie A side Inter will be the only Kenyan player appearing in the rankings that appear monthly when four major leagues; English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, Italian Serie A, Germanys’ Bundesliga and the French Ligue Ligue 1 are in session.
As per the latest ranking released on Monday 10 September 2012, Mariga improved by 121 placed to land at 820 from 941 during the last ranking. In the last ranking back in May, Oliech had steadily risen to 680.
According to the ranking players from the mentioned leagues are tracked and their touch on the ball - whether they have had a positive or negative impact on their teams ability to score or concede a goal.
Lionel Mesas per the latest Castrol ranking, Barcelona’s Lionel Messi is stil top and ahead of Bayern Munich’s Mario Gomez and former Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie now at Manchester United.
