Nahimana: Why I didn’t celebrate

Tusker Premier League (TPL) giants AFC Leopards bounced back from their defeat to arch rivals Gor Mahia to register a 2 – 1 win over Muhoroni Youth in the league match played at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru on Sunday 30 September.

Rwandan international Jonas Nahimana got the first goal for the Leopards but didn’t celebrate and in an interview with ingwefan.com, he revealed that he chose not to celebrate as he felt a section of the fans hadn’t forgiven him for the blunder that led to Gor Mahia’s first goal in the 1 – 2 derby loss.

Accept

-We are all human beings and at one point or another make mistakes; we have to accept that the mistake was done and it did cost us three points but we still have four matches and that is where all our focus should be right now, he told ingwefan.com.

-I didn't want to celebrate the goal because a section of fans in the stands still think about what happened last week despite personally apologizing to them.

Missed

In the derby, played at the Moi International Sports Centre (MISC) Kasarani, Nahimana took a good first touch but with intent to clear the ball missed and allowed Kevin Omondi to steal the ball and race through to assist a 13th minute goal by Dani Sserunkuma.
