Musonye gets his wish as CECAFA land CAF date Waiver

CECAFA
The Council for East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) has received a major boost as regards their Senior Challenge Cup competition, after continental body the Confederation of African Football (CAF) agreed to shift the dates of it's African Nations Championships (CHAN) competition.

There had been a conflict as regards the dates for the two tournaments, with some countries, Kenya included saying they would not send teams to the Challenge Cup if the dates remained the same.

Challenge Cup action was to kick off on 24 November 2012 and end on 8 December 2012, but with the CHAN also set for the dates between 1 December 2012 and 14 December, there was a clash.

CAF though, have responded to CECAFA's appeal for a change in the dates and thus they have been changed to allow for the smooth running of the competition.

Agree to play

In a communique from CECAFA Secretary General Nicholas Musonye, Via CAF, the governing body has changed the dates to suit the Challenge Cup.

It read - After discussions with the S.G we agreed to propose the following dates regarding the Preliminary Round matches of your zone:

The CHAN first legs will be held on 14-16 Dec 2012, with the return legs on  4-6 Jan  2013.
