Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee has quit as Kenya team tactician, moments after his side lost 0-2 to Uganda in a Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Tusker senior Challenge Cup match in Dar es Salaam.

The loss at the National Stadium was the third in a row for the Harambee Stars who now leave for home without a point.
“I take full responsibility for the poor showing here and believe I do not deserve to continue coaching this team,” Mulee told a post match press Conference.

“I came here with the best players from the Kenyan League and if I cannot win a single match then the best option is to quit,” he said.

Mulee, who took the team to the 2004 African Cup of Nations finals in Tunisia in his first stint was recalled to the team only a couple of months ago and has failed to transform it into a winning outfit.

The team has lost four times in as many matches over the past ten days, something the tactician who also doubles up as a TV football commentator said.

The Harambee Stars had the best chances of the match including a clear-cut chance by George Odhiambo midway through the second half which was parried off by the Uganda Cranes keeper Robert Odongkara.

Uganda got their best chance in the 83rd minute and Okwi Emmanuel made no mistake.

Seven minutes later, Kenya goalkeeper Bonface Oluoch fouled Robert Ssentogo and he was sent off leaving captain Andy Mwesigwa to slot home the resultant penalty past defender-turned-stand-in goalkeeper Ndeto Mulinge.

The Ivory Coast beat Sudan 3-0 in an earlier match and like Uganda confirmed their quarter finals place.

Kone Zoumana was on target in the 36th minute before Kipre Tchetche came up with a double in the 59th and 77th minutes.

With these results, the quarter finals pairings are complete with Zambia taking on Ethiopia early on Tuesday before Ivory Coast play Malawi. Wednesday will see Uganda take on Zanzibar before Tanzania take on Rwanda.
