2009 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Sofapaka have been handed a massive boost as they continue with the preparations for the second leg with positive injury news flowing in the camp.
Trio back
The league leaders are assured of more defensive cover after left back Abdulatif Achkobe Omar and right back Thomas Heskey Wanyama were declared fit enough to resume action while center half George Wise Owino remains under watch but is recovering well.
The trio has for some time been on the club’s long term injury list and didn’t feature for the team in the whole of the first leg and their return is source for much relief to the team manager Jacques Roberto who admitted they will really boost the team’s run in the second leg.
Competition
-Abdulatif is fit again after the long layoff, so is Wanyama and I can declare the two are ready to resume action which is much of a relief to us as it answers most of our defensive questions as well as enhancing competition in the team.
-George Owino is also doing fine; he can play a competitive match though he is still under watch. We don’t want him rushed back. To be safe let us say he will play in the league after one month probably, he told futaa.com.
Sofapaka take on AFC Leopards in their first match of the second leg on Wednesday 27 June at the Nyayo National Stadium.
