Kenyan Premier League
side SoNy Sugar has stated that it will not honor its midweek KPL match against AFC
Leopards.
Speaking to futaa.com, the club’s secretary general Zack Irungu, the club decided to give the match a cold shoulder after KPL failed to keep its financial promise.
Delayed refunds
-The Kenyan Premier League promised to refund us money so that we could honour the match since they postponed the date but they did not keep their promise.
-The funds were to be sent to us last week but they failed despite us urging them to send the money on time so we cannot travel for our camping.
The club was scheduled to camp in Kakamega starting Monday morning ahead of the Wednesday 20 June match. Irungu however indicated that they had given KPL a warning.
-We had told them [KPL] clearly that if the money is not in our account by Monday then plans would be shelved and that is what we have just done.
The club has since sent KPL an email indicating their reason for calling off their travelling plans.
