Michel impressed by Stars show despite defeat

Michel

Harambee Stars Coach Henri Michel was delighted with his players display despite their 1-2 defeat to South Africa’s Bafana Bafana, in an international friendly match, on Tuesday 16 October, at Nyayo National Stadium.

A second half own-goal from Christopher Wekesa and Tokelo Rantie’s 19th minute strike ensured that Gordon Igesund’s charges emerge the victor.

Stars’ skipper Dennis Oliech scored hosts goal from the spot after his counterpart from South Africa Bogani Khumalo handled the ball in the area.

Take positives

Although the Frenchman was disappointed with second goal, he’s happy to take some positives from the build-up.

-It’s a bit pity. We conceded the second goal when we were playing one man less and the second goal was not that way clear.

-Overall I am satisfied with the spirit shown by the players and their average performance.

- Some players are not used to play at international level; we are still discovering the players and they are trying to know each other. I think the result is positive, said Michel after the match.
