Mathare knocks off Oserian

Mathare United

2008 league champions Mathare United saw off visiting Oserian FC 1-0 in a round 27 Tusker Premier League game played at the City stadium on Saturday 20 October 2012.

Dependable

At the break of the 1400hrs kick off, Mathare United led the game 1-0 with a goal from right back Athman Buki.

The second half however did not yield much as Oserian could not convert their chances to goals.

Mathare kicked off the second half without injured Simon Mburu and in his place came in dependable Vincent Okello.

Slide

On 51 minutes Okello was in the Oserian box but he shot straight at Oserian keeper George Ochieng. Two minutes later, Oserian were raiding Mathare but keeper Musalia was called in to action to send a shot from he edge of the box out.

On 65 minutes, Francis Ouma got to the end of a goal kick from Musalia but as the attempted to slide the ball home, he collided with Ochieng in Oserian’s goal as he collected the ball.

0n 85 minutes, Mathare had one of the best chances to send his side 2-0 up but a long range shot from substitute Daniel Mwaura was parried by Ochieng. And seconds later, Ochieng was at it again to save another Mwaura attempt.

Relegation danger

The game came to an end with Mathare maintaining their 23rd 1-0 lead to win the game.

After the game, Oserian remains in spot 15 and in real relegation danger with 21 points. Mathare has improved three positions to rest at spot eight with 35 points. Both have played 27 games.
