Mathare humbles Ligi Ndogo

Former Kenyan Premier League Champions Mathare United FC trounced Ligo Ndogo FC 2-0 in a friendly match, on Friday 15 June, at Goan Institute Grounds.

After a goalless first half, the Slum Boys opened the scoring for the Slum Boys in the 56^th minute through leading striker Francis Ouma.

Five minutes to the stoppage time, Philip Munyoki ensured his name was on the score-sheet to make it 2-0.

Strong opponents

Speaking to futaa.com after the tie, Mathare Coach Stanley Okumbi lauded the performance of the Division One side.

-It’s a good side and they actually gave a good account of themselves. Generally, it’s a thrilling match and I am impressed with their game, he said.

Mathare are ranked 14^th on the table standings with 12 points and they’re scheduled to meet Karuturi Sports FC in their second leg opener, on Saturday 23 June.
