Former Kenyan Premier League Champions Mathare United FC trounced Ligo Ndogo FC 2-0 in a friendly match, on Friday 15 June, at Goan Institute Grounds.
After a goalless first half, the Slum Boys opened the scoring for the Slum Boys in the 56th minute through leading striker Francis Ouma.
Five minutes to the stoppage time, Philip Munyoki ensured his name was on the score-sheet to make it 2-0.
Strong opponents
Speaking to futaa.com after the tie, Mathare Coach Stanley Okumbi lauded the performance of the Division One side.
-It’s a good side and they actually gave a good account of themselves. Generally, it’s a thrilling match and I am impressed with their game, he said.
Mathare are ranked 14th on the table standings with 12 points and they’re scheduled to meet Karuturi Sports FC in their second leg opener, on Saturday 23 June.
