McDonald Mariga’s Inter Milan has slowly scaled the Serie A ladder and after registering a 3-2 win over Sampdoria on Wednesday 31 October 2012, the team is now second in the 20-team log.
In the Wednesday game, Inter had to come from a goal down and survive a late onslaught from the ten-man Sampdoria to land the sixth straight league win of the season.
Sampdoria were to get a late goal
Gianni Munari opened the scores for Sampdoria on 20 minutes, a goal that separated the two at the break. But Diego Milito responded with a penalty on 52 minutes to level matters just after Sampdoria’s defender Andrea Costa was ejected from the game.
Tow further goals from Rodrigo Palacio goal and Freddy Guarin on 68 and 82 minutes respectively sent Inter 3-1 up. Sampdoria were to get a late goal in the fourth minute of injury time to end the game at 3-2.
With 24 points from 10 games, Inter is now above Napoli at second spot and four points within leaders unbeaten Juventus.
Napoli dropped a second straight game
Midfielder Mariga who is still recuperating from injury was not part of Inter’s triumphant squad.
On the same Wednesday, Napoli dropped a second straight league games by going down 1-0 away to Atalanta to remain on 21 points.
Lazio who picked up a 1-1 draw with Torino on Wednesday is placed fourth on the log with 19 points.
