AFC Leopards’ best player for 2011 Bernard Mang’oli is confident that his Kenyatta University teammate Alex Nyamweno will make it big in City Stars in the coming season after the striker completed the switch from relegated coastal side Congo United.
National team
Mang’oli, who played alongside Nyamweno in the university games in December ranks his counterpart highly and reckons that if given the chance the striker can even make his mark in the national soccer team Harambee Stars.
Speaking to futaa.com, Mang’oli said the biggest obstacle to have barred Nyamweno from donning the national colours is the fact that at Congo United he found playing time chances limited even though he is a very good player.
-Nyamweno is a very good striker and everyone saw it during the university games. At Congo United he was not given enough play time and that limited his chances overall. I will not be surprised if I see him in Harambee Stars soon.
Lesser pressure
-At City Stars, however, I know he will do well because he is not under any pressure like he was at Congo. Moreover, at City Stars we always see them rotating the squad and this gives him a chance to cement his place, Mangoli said.
Nyamweno made the switch from Congo United after the club was relegated last season. Together with Mang’oli, they set the Kenya University Sports Association (KUSA) games alight with impressive perfomances that helped Kenyatta University win the championship.
