Jonny Evans has signed a new three-and-a-half year deal at Manchester United.
The 24-year-old Northern Ireland international made his United debut as a teenager in the League Cup against Coventry in September 2007 and has now committed to the club until June 2016.
Speaking to BBC Sports, Sir Alex Ferguson said the defender is one of United’s top players.
-Jonny has risen through the ranks to become an integral part of the first-team squad.
-He has developed into a top player for us and scored a couple of important goals this season too. I am delighted he has signed a new contract, he said.
Evans said he was delighted with his new deal.
-I have always felt that this is the right club for me.
-I have come through the academy and developed as a player with the help of all my team-mates, the manager and the coaching staff. I would love to play here throughout the rest of my career, said Evans.Evans has made 141 appearances for the Red Devils since his debut in 2007
