Major scare for Karuturi ahead of second leg

Michael Nam

Naivasha based Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Karuturi Sport has been dealt a major blow with fresh injury news as the team continues to prepare for the second leg of the season which starts in less than a week.

Oketch injured

The team’s defensive rock Benjamin Oketch is down with a knee injury which he sustained on Monday 18 June in training and is a massive scare to the club which already has a growing injury list from the first leg.

Speaking to futaa.com, the team’s coach Michael Nam confirmed that the defender hurt his knee when he landed awkwardly during a practice session and admitted they are in a race against time to see he is fit by the time they face Mathare United on Saturday 23 June.

Big blow

-Benja was injured in training when he jumped to contest for an aerial ball but landed badly with his knee on a hard surface. This is a big blow to us as we continue with the preparations for the second leg but we are doing all we can to see that he recovers in time for the weekend game, Nam said.

Oketch is a key player in the seventh placed side; he played all their 15 games in the first leg and managed to score twice in the process, against Chemelil Sugar FC and AFC Leopards.
