Leckie loaned to FSV Frankfurt

Mathew Leckie

Young Australian attacker Mathew Leckie has been loaned out by Borussia Moenchengladbach to second-tier outfit FSV Frankfurt for the 2012-13 season.

The two clubs confirmed the one-year deal on Tuesday 20 June, with the 21-year-old hoping that the loan idea will grant him game-time to improve his development.

Gaining experience

-At FSV Frankfurt I would like to take the next step in my development. Here I would like to earn playing time and play with the club in a successful season. Leckie told the FSV website.

Leckie joined Moenchengladbach in March 2012 from A-League club Adelaide United, before making 11 appearances off the bench during the 2011-12 campaign.

Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl said the club remains convinced of Leckie's talent but wanted him to gain experience at FSV.
