Sadam Abdillahi’s injury-time goal secured a national secondary school games final ticket for Garissa High after beating Habaswein High 2-1 in an explosive North Eastern provincial football final match, on Sunday 15 July, at Garissa High School Grounds.
All the three goals were scored in the last ten minutes of the match after a barren first half.
Busy last quarter
Mohammed Guhaad broke the deadlock in the 80th minute courtesy of Abdimein Mohammed’s effort before Habaswein’s hit-man Abdikadir Salam leveled the score.
The match seemed to be heading into the extra time before Abdimein setted-up Abdillahi to net the winner in the 91st minute.
Heads high
Speaking after the match, Garissa Coach Kasidi Daglish, a Pumwani High alumnus, was full of praise for his boys.
-My players showed a lot of character from on-set and I am happy that they have been rewarded with the victory.
-It is a hard fought win and we expect to perform better in the nationals as compared to our predecessors, Dalgish told futaa.com.
The national finals will be held in Mombasa, in August.
