The 2012 Airtel Rising Stars Kenya Secondary
Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) will come to a close on Saturday 10 August
Scored six time
With the tournament now in its fourth and penultimate day, some of the best talents have emerged and spotted.
One, Michael Olunga of Nairobi representatives Upper Hill, has so far proved to be on one the best of the best.
Heading to the finals of the competition on Saturday where Upper Hill will meet St. Anthony’s of Kitale, Rift Valley, the striker has already scored six times to top the scorers leader board. Away from his six, Olunga has had a touch in the other six scored by his team mates.
One of four scouts
Olunga has turned out to be a hot cake with Kenyan Premier League Clubs as well as Division one sides eyeing his immediate capture.
Former Harambee Stars Coach Mohammed Kheri, one of the four scouts picking up the best from the tournament has already put in a good recommendation for the upcoming striker.
-He reminds me of Okoth (Mike Origi) who played in Belgium, said Kheri to futaa.com
Winning a penalty
-He is a great talent and I firmly recommend him for the Kenya Juniors teams; the U20 as well as the U23, added Kheri
To hit the final of the competition, Olunga, 18, played a great part in a semifinal played on Friday 10 August to lead his side past defending Champions Gekomoni from Nyanza 2-0.
Olunga scored the first, on 22 minutes, before winning a penalty six minutes later that was converted by team mate Calvin Odongo.
