KSSSA: Tartar leaves Chogoria in tatters

2011 Airtel sponsored Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA) runner up Tartar Girls from Rift Valley tore Eastern Region Champions Chogoria Girls apart with a 5-0 smacking in their Group A tie played on Tuesday 7 August 2012 at Shimmo La Tewa from noon.

Hat trick

Ruth Chebungei who was crowned top scorer (seven goals) and Most Valuable Player in the recently Copa Coca Cola National finals scored a hat trick with her counterpart Nancy Cherutich added a brace to seal the win for the Rift Valley Champions.

Chebungei completed her hat trick in the first half. A goal in the 20th, 26th and 43 minutes sent Tartar to an impressive 3-0 half time lead.

Top honors

Cherutich got her two in two minutes, the first in the 57th minute to complete the walk over Eastern Champions Chogoria.

Tartar now takes top honors in Group A with three points ahead of St. Johns Kaloleni who hit Western’s Ibinzo 1-0 in another tie. Chogoria will have to do with the wooden spoon till the next round of games.
