Defending Airtel Rising Stars Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National soccer kings Gekomoni started off their title retention campaign with a 2-0 win over Garissa High in a game played at Shimmo La Tewa on Tuesday 7 August 2012 from 1000hrs.

The defending Champions scored a goal in each half to sink the North Eastern representatives who ended the game with nine boys after two of its players Saddam Abdulahi andMohammed Deko were ejected from the game.
Off a Musiomo Nyamweya cross, George Nyamweya sent the Champions 1-0 up on 18 minutes, a goal that stood to the break and well into the second half.
Strong winds
Eric Onduso scored with a header on 78 minutes to complete the scoring after connecting well to a David Aura cross.
Gekomoni’s Coach Rashid Omar was indeed elated at the win and had this to say;
-My boys played well though they were affected by the weather – very strong winds that kept blowing the ball to one side of the field

-With a win on our side, we now look forward to a cracker of a game against St. Anthony tomorrow (Wed 8 Aug) who we hope to see off to book a place in the semifinals, he added
