As the Tusker Premier League (TPL) entered its 27th round of matches, one stat stood out in the Saturday 20 October fixtures; Chemelil Sugar was the only team that won away from home.
Six matches
A total of six matches were on the cards. In the early kickoff, Mathare United faced off with Oserian FC at the Nairobi City Stadium and the Slum Boys managed to squeeze a 1 – 0 win over the Naivasha side. Athman Buki scored the all important goal in the match.

AFC Leopards took on Ulinzi Stars at the Mumias Sports Complex as from 1500hrs. The match ended 2 – 1 in favour of the home side with Jonas Nahimana and Victor Ochieng scoring the goals while Stephen Ocholla got Ulinzi Stars’ consolation.

The Nairobi City Stars versus KCB match at the Hope Centre which kicked off at 1500hrs ended 1 – 0 in favour of the Kawangware side. Long serving player Francis Thairu got the goal for Bye Wadda’s side.

Tusker, the defending champions bagged three points albeit after a laboured performance over hard fighting Muhoroni Youth FC at the Moi International Sports Centre (MISC) Kasarani. They won 1 – 0 courtesy of David Ochieng’s second half strike.

In the SoNy Sugar game at home to Chemelil Sugar, Jared Omwenga scored the only
goal after 43 minutes to secure
the points for Chemelil Sugar, the only side that won away from home on the
day. The win was the first for stand in coach Mike Mururi.

In the last match of the day, Gor Mahia continued with their fine run in the league with a 1 – 0 win over Karuturi Sport. Dan Sserunkuma got the goal via a penalty after Kevin Omondi was adjudged to have been felled in the box.
