Kisumu Stadium a target for CECAFA tourney

Kisumu’s Moi Stadium whose upgrading is set to start on Monday 14 May 2012 is a target venue for this year’s CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.

Football Kenya Federation chairman Sam Nyamweya confirmed that its upgrading would offer an additional venue for the annual tourney set for Kenya later this year.

Upgrading to start

- With the upgrading of Kisumu Municipal Stadium, Kenya will be able to host this year’s  CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup and Premier League matches .

The contractor will move to the site this coming Monday and completion of the project is expected take seven months.

Funding for this project was made possible by the FIFA Development Committee chaired by Michael Plattini with Issa Hayatou as the Vice Chair.

The project’s aim is to assist African Federations to build all weather resistant stadiums as well as training centers for youth footballers.

The Ksh 42 million deal involves laying an artificial turf and upgrading the dressing rooms.
