Mathare United captain Kevin Kimani and Tusker FC striker George Midenyo continued their goal scoring form in the 1-1 KPL draw between the two clubs on Tuesday 16 August 2011.
Arita's nine goals have been a plus for the inconsistent Thika, but after going scoreless in the 1-1 draw at home to Ulinzi stars over the weekend, he will have to watch his back.
Mike Baraza of AFC leopards, on eight goals will get the chance to catch up with Arita, when he stars for Leopards in their clash with Sofapaka on Wednesday 17 August 2011.
Kimani, Midenyo, Abdul Musa and Isiah Omondi all scored for their respective clubs over the weekend, to take them within striking distance of Arita's mantle.
Inspirational
Kimani has been inspirational this season and he again did well for Mathare, equalising after Midenyo had given Tusker FC the lead in their rescheduled match up on Tuesday 16 August, while Omondi and Musa put in match winning performances for SoNy Sugar and Bandari respectively.
Kimani now has eight for the season, while Musa, Midenyo and Omondi are all on seven goals, where they join former front runner Clifford Alwanga of KCB, who has hit a rough patch lately.
Of the top ten in the scoring charts, Alwanga, Congo United's Rama Salim and Ranger's Edwin Mwaura did not score while Sofapaka duo Bob Mugalia and Humphrey Mieno together with Baraza will get their chance on Wednesday.
