Kenyan defender enjoys playing the midfield

Kenyan defender Lawrence Olum, who plays for America’s Major League Soccer [MLS] side Sporting Kansas City, says that he enjoys playing the midfield, as proved by his showing in their  29 May US Open Cup match against Orlando City.

-When you play that central midfield position you have to be aware of where you are every time and where everyone else needs to be.

-I felt very comfortable to where I could express myself on and off of the ball.

Olum also confirmed that he is aware he needs to work on a few areas, before he can be a fully-formed utility player.

- Off the ball and some stuff like that there are things to work on.

More and more playing time

After the Orlando match, which he played to the ring of full-time, Olum served in his next Cup match win, against Colorado Rapids, coming as a 73^rd minute substitute for Peterson Joseph.
