The Kenyan U17 national team will not be taking on their Tanzanian counterparts in the African Youth Championships (AYC) qualifiers for the tournament to be staged next year in Morocco.
Team in SA
The match was scheduled for Sunday 9 September but with the U17 team in South Africa until Saturday 9 September, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) was left with no option but to give the tournament a miss.
According to the federation’s secretary general Lordvick Aduda, the players in South Africa form the bulk of the names submitted to CAF while there is the lack of time to replace them and submit MRI tests afresh.
Bulk of names
-We had agreed with the sponsors (Coca Cola) that the team selected from Copa Coca Cola will represent the country in the U17 AYC. As it stands, the team, which is a bulk of the names we submitted to CAF is in South Africa and returns on the 8th yet the game is on 9th.
-Since we can’t be allowed to submit another list of players and results of MRI Tests, we are left with no choice but to pull out, he told futaa.com.
