Kenya drops in latest rankings

Segbefia Prince, Dennis Odhiambo

As largely expected, given results in the first three weekends of June, Kenya has dropped 14 places in the latest FIFA rankings to land at 125.

Kenya was placed at position 111

In the last rankings, Kenya was placed at position 111 but dropped after being held to a 0-0 draw by Malawi on 2 June in the first 2014 World Cup Qualifier.

A 1-0 loss away to Namibia the next weekend during the second round of the same qualifiers and a similar loss in the third weekend of June away to Togo in the reverse tie of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations left Harambee Stars reeling downwards.

Uganda remains the best in the Region

Kenya is now placed 37th and just ahead of Rwanda who they tie with at 125 but get a 38th placing in Africa.

After improving 12 places, Tanzania is now at 127 globally and 39 in Africa.

Uganda, for yet another month, remains the best in the Region. After improving nine places, the Cranes are now placed 85th globally and 20th in Africa.

Spain is top

16th globally, Cote D’ivoire are the top dogs in Africa despite not moving. Ghana (33), Algeria (35), Libya (39), Mali (40) and Zambia (41) complete the top six slots.

Globally, back to back European Champions Spain top the log with Germany, Uruguay, England, Portugal and Italy complete the top six positions.
