Former Mathare Youth coach Joseph Jagero, currently coaching Nairobi District League side ASEC Huruma caused the abandonment of the championship playoff match between his team and Intercity FC at the Pumwani grounds on Sunday 21 October.
Abusive Jagero
Jagero had been cautioned by the referee, Japheth Juma to stop using abusive language directed at the official but Jagero persisted and was asked to leave the touchline on 25 minutes, three minutes after his team had conceded.
He refused, and after twenty minutes of no action, the referee called off the game.
Intercity awarded
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Nairobi branch secretary general Mr. Stephen Ragos Onyango, speaking to futaa.com afterwards confirmed the match has been awarded to Intercity after Jagero’s disruption.
-That was very disappointing on Jagero’s part, I thought we have outgrown such behaviours. Referees and other officials should be respected always and I can confirm the match has been awarded to Intercity. They will be facing off with Elevate Kenya next weekend, he said.
Josiah Nderitu was the Intercity scorer.
